These tables are functionally artistic as they showcase treasures, works of art and literature, and even a collection or two. But it’s understandable if these tables serve more often as contemporary icons in their own right. They’re timely accents with a rare balance of form and function that is the essence of contemporary design.

A variety of full-bodied reds and crisp whites representing the vineyards of Tuscany. Plates hand-painted in Athens. Sparkling vintage Waterford glasses. Gullah sweetgrass baskets. Seemingly disparate, but all very much a part of the well decorated life. To invoke a rich cultural dimension, highlight collections with wine racks and etageres by Johnston Casuals. To complete the tableau, reflect this same fluidity of design with a bed created to showcase the finest linens and plumpest pillows. These contemporary styles for sophisticated interiors will reinforce a commitment to both function and fine art.

About Jaymar
Established in 1956, Jaymar is one of Canada’s leading manufacturers of upholstered furniture. The 150,000 square foot modern production facility is located thirty minutes from downtown Montreal. Jaymar’s roots are firmly based on the proud European tradition of exquisite styling and savoir-faire. The experience is carried on by each of more than three hundred employees in the production of every piece of furniture.
We are extremely proud of our more than 50-year history of industry leadership in fashion forward design inspirations as well as personalized custom order flexibility.
Jaymar sofas, sectionals, sleepers, chairs, motion furniture and, most recently introduced, our extensive line of T-Max home theatre seating, are sold through authorized retailers throughout North America. Jaymar maintains three permanent trade showrooms, which are located in Montreal, Toronto and High Point, North Carolina.
Our entire staff is dedicated to designing, building and promptly delivering the finest collection of upholstery in the world. The process includes the highest quality components, the final inspection, and wrapping and shipping. All 300 members of the Jaymar family are intent on satisfying you, our ultimate customer.
Craftsmanship
Utilizing the highest quality raw materials, highly trained craftsmen and, of course, some of the highest quality leathers sourced from the finest tanneries around the world, the Jaymar finished product delivered to your home is guaranteed to provide you with the comfort, style and quality that your imagination has searched for!
Are you tired of the design mediocrity that you see in the marketplace? We want you to know that Jaymar is widely recognized as the company of limitless choices. It is our wish to assist you in finding the perfect solution to your requirements regarding style, colour and almost any size configuration. Every model can be custom manufactured for you in our high-tech, cutting edge facilities with a vastly improved quick ship turnaround time!
Construction
The structural integrity of every product we build is a constant source of pride for the entire Jaymar family. We seek out and utilize some of the finest raw materials available, often using components that far exceed “industry standards.”
Our frames are built from solid and engineered hardwoods for maximum strength. Since we specify and construct our own frames, we include extra structural support members and corner blocked joints to achieve our goal of permanent stability.
The seat support system we use includes extra heavy gauge steel sinuous wire springs. Here again, our standard construction includes more rows of springing than most other manufacturers.
To further enhance the quality of our products as well as their long-lasting beauty, Jaymar uses some of the finest foam components available to improve our seating system. We generally specify a minimum foam density of 2.25 lbs per square inch – once again, far exceeding most of the competition.
The finishing touches on each upholstered item we build are truly the evidence of quality and attention to detail that you find in every Jaymar product. These include the care we put into the seaming of both leather and fabric, and the plush padding we use to protect and support the “outsides” of each item as well as enhance the visual appeal. Other elements of pride and quality are the custom created, and finished, exposed wood legs and bases in various styles, and the unique and effective custom attachment devices that allow all Jaymar sectionals to fit snugly together for both safety and beauty.

“One neat arrangement” – The Philadelphia Inquirer on Fri, Mar. 19, 2010
Friday, March 26th, 2010The Home of Regina and Leon Huff
The Moorestown home of Philly’s own music producer, Leon Huff, of Philadelphia International Records fame was featured in The Philadelphia Inquirer on Fri, Mar. 19, 2010. The music producer and his wife, Regina, have created a world of striking furnishings, color schemes that blend as harmoniously as the undertones of mellow jazz, offering serene order with the help of Interior Designer, Georgio Savva.
The family room, with soaring ceiling and double-paddle fans is spare in furnishings, and blends chocolates, cocoas, and beiges for sophistication and serenity. (David M Warren / Staff Photographer)

By Sally Friedman
For The Inquirer
The desk is huge, handsome, and perfectly, absolutely clear. Not a single stray paper, not a file, not even a pen rests on it. Yet this desk is in the working home office of an extremely busy man.
Leon Huff admits it – he’s a neat freak, and it shows in his elegant Moorestown home, a place so immaculate it’s hard to imagine anyone even lives in it.
The music producer and his wife, Regina, have created a world of striking furnishings, color schemes that blend as harmoniously as the undertones of mellow jazz, offering serene order.
“I love privacy and quiet, and we’ve found it here,” says Leon Huff, who created a music empire with his partner, Kenneth Gamble, when they formed Philadelphia International Records in 1971. Credited with establishing “The Sound of Philadelphia,” the company worked with artists like Teddy Pendergrass, Patti LaBelle, Chubby Checker, Michael Jackson, and Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes.
Recently, a fire swept through the company’s Philadelphia headquarters, causing extensive damage and corresponding heartache, and making the Huffs even more grateful for their home, which, they both suggest, is their sanctuary.
“It’s not just the look and feel of this house, but also its peace and privacy,” says Regina, a Camden native who also lived in Delran.
“I’m a guy who really needs quiet. I do like to get away from the world sometimes,” says Leon, who describes himself as “. . . very happy with solitude.”
The Huffs first saw the home they now own several years ago, when it belonged to former Eagles football player Lito Sheppard and his wife, Nicki. As social guests of the Sheppards’, the couple recall being smitten.
“I loved it the minute I stepped inside,” says Regina, who felt comfortable with the open flow, the private yard, and the expansive feel.
When Sheppard was leaving the area, the Huffs signed on the dotted line, leaving behind a home in Washington Township, Gloucester County, decorated in muted beiges. They were ready for a bit more sparkle.
With the assistance of designer Georgio Savva of Cherry Hill’s Unique Interiors, they set out to create their vision. Because Savva also had worked with the Sheppards, he knew the home well and could guide them.
“I’ve always liked Moorestown. I used to ride my bike here when I lived in Cherry Hill,” says Leon, who was born in Camden and lived in a modest rowhouse with small rooms, with his father’s barbershop in the basement. “I’m not spoiled, and neither is Regina. We both feel very fortunate to live in this beautiful place.”
The couple, relative newlyweds, married in 2005 after their earlier marriages ended in divorce. And there’s no mistaking that their taste for glamour came to the fore when they moved into the property in April.
The living room is a study in art deco with walls in sea-mist blue with a cocoa glaze, the handiwork of Lillian’s Paintbrush in Moorestown, a company owned by Lillian Beretta that specializes in custom paint finishes. The company did all of the customized walls.
In the living room, accessories in metallic tones complement the walls, and a lush curved sofa is done in raw silk. The curvy motif is repeated in an area rug over the lacquered mahogany wood floor. Art by the Phoenix Art Group, a collective of Arizona artists who will custom-match any palette in original artwork, unifies the room, which might easily be a 1950s Hollywood mogul’s lair.
The foyer boasts a remarkable sculpture of a joined male and female in silver and bronze, and a three-dimensional wall piece of gleaming acrylics and stainless steel. Across from the foyer is the large dining room. Ultramodern chairs with flashes of silver and high-gloss Italian lacquer anchor the collection of Murano glass that Regina has been collecting, in her word, “forever.” Murano pieces crop up in other spaces, but the dining room is the showcase.
From the contemporary kitchen, with wood cabinetry with raised panels, a Murano light fixture, and granite counters, there are spectacular views of woods and trees, and of a deck, with restaurant-style grill, that is custom-made for parties.
“But we still order in a lot of pizza,” confesses Regina, who patronizes a popular spot on Main Street.
Leon’s home office with its pristine desk holds treasured photographs, including one of Michael Jackson as a preteen that is “a cherished possession,” he said.
A family room with soaring ceiling and double-paddle fans is spare in furnishings, and blends chocolates, cocoas, and beiges for sophistication and serenity. This is a room to kick back in and chill, but one that can also put on company manners for Sunday sports or family gatherings.
Upstairs, a master bedroom in pale beiges has as its centerpiece a four-poster bed that looks straight out of a European castle. In a home full of showstopping art, furniture, and accessories, this suite is still one of Regina’s favorite spots, and another haven for her Murano glass.
But the crown jewel is the gigantic lower level, a kind of playground for all seasons. Every recreational toy is in this space, from a massive pool table and customized game table to a bar, full movie theater, and lounging area.
The feature the Huffs love most is one of the few that remain from the Sheppard era. Seems Sheppard and his wife commissioned a jazz mural, also from Lillian’s Paintbrush, that stretches across two walls of the lower level. “When I saw that, I really had a feeling that we were meant to be in this house,” Regina Huff says. “The music theme of that mural made it seem like an almost magical match.”
Also displayed on the lower-level walls are the gold and platinum records won by Gamble & Huff’s performers. The late Teddy Pendergrass, who was extremely close to Huff, has a wall of his own.
There’s a far less public room on that lower level that is one of the most precious to Leon. While it’s basically a storeroom, in it are the many honors, awards and memorabilia of a full life in the music industry. But even in this home, there just aren’t quite enough walls to display it all.
Those cherished reminders of Philadelphia International Records have taken on even greater significance since the Feb. 21 fire that destroyed some of that glorious past.
Finally, tucked away in a corner of the expanse is a simple room “decorated” with basically just one piece of furniture: a barber chair.
That chair is not just a successful entrepreneur’s reward – a place for the luxury of home haircuts – it’s also a nod to Leon’s past.
“My father was very important in my life. And our Camden home had that basement barbershop,” Leon says. “So when I come in here, I’m reminded of that other life, one that taught me a lot that’s important.”
Leon gets a bit nostalgic for that life sometimes. “Those were happy days back in Camden, and I don’t ever want to forget my roots,” he says. “Roots matter.”

Genuine Ultrasuede Fabric
Wednesday, March 17th, 2010Ultrasuede® is a fabric so unique, it’s a category all its own.

Ultrasuede® was born with a revolutionary discovery … and a remarkable manufacturing innovation.
In 1970, after years of experimentation, Toray Industries scientist Dr. Miyoshi Okamoto succeeded in creating the world’s first ultra-microfiber. A few months later, his colleague Dr. Toyohiko Hikota perfected a new process capable of transforming Dr. Okamoto’s invention into an amazing new fabric, a non-woven material that combined luxury with unprecedented performance.
This fabric, which was later trademarked as Ultrasuede®, combines the rich aesthetics of a suede surface with benefits no animal product could ever offer. Ultrasuede® is soft, supple and sensuous to the touch. Yet it’s also resistant to stains and discoloration. It’s even machine-washable or dry-cleanable.
How Is All This Possible?
The magic of Ultrasuede® begins with ultra-microfibers so fine they cannot be seen by the human eye, ultra-microfibers so microscopically minute a single pound of them could be stretched from the earth to the moon—and back.
Transforming ultra-microfibers this fine into a practical fabric demands a complex, multi-patented process, part of which is summarized in the illustrations shown here.

1.) Ultrasuede® begins with polymer ultra-microfibers spun so light and fine, a strand measuring more than 50 miles long would weigh less than a gram.

2.) These ultra-microfibers are extruded through protective spinnerets, creating what we call the “Islands in the Sea” configuration, with ultra-microfiber filaments “afloat” in each strand.

3.) These strands are then transformed via a complex process that includes ironing, curling, cutting and needle-punching into a soft felt-like material which is then impregnated with a special adhesive binder.

4.) Once the material is formed, the protective polymer coating is dissolved with a solvent and the material is further processed to create a fabric that is, almost paradoxically, as soft and supple as it is strong and durable. Magnified thousands of times, this cross-section reveals the densely complex yet mono-layer structure of Ultrasuede®.

5.) The end result: Ultrasuede®, a richly complex non-woven fabric offering an unparalleled combination of luxury, appeal, performance and ease of care for an extraordinary array of applications.
The Fabric of the Future
The Ultrasuede® story began with a series of revolutionary discoveries. It continues today with equally innovative R&D activities conducted at Toray’s global Application Development Center in Italy.
One of the most advanced facilities of its kind anywhere in the world, the Application Development Center combines European fashion and fabric savoir-faire with Toray’s unsurpassed technological expertise. The Application Development Center functions as a clearing house for requests for technical assistance and application solutions from designers and manufacturers on every continent. Its mission: To make sure Ultrasuede® remains the fabric of the future.

Ultrasuede® is produced at technologically advanced plants such as this one in Nera Montoro, Umbria, Italy.

THE MATERIALS:
The stones and marbles used in our product are all natural – presenting all the variations and unique colorings found in nature. Because they are natural products, no two pieces will look alike. None of the natural veins, pores, and variations are to be considered defects, but instead characteristics that make your table on-of-a-kind and enhance its beauty.
Travertine– Travertine is a sedimentary rock that is naturally porous. Some of the open pores and veins may be filled in manufacturing. The color of the veins and the amount of fill needed depend entirely on the nature of the particular travertine top. Dark veins may randomly occur on the table top or edge of the table – depending only on the mineral content present in that particular piece of stone. In some instances, tiny openings are not filled and remain open. Open pores on the edges of the table are not filled to leave the piece in its natural state.
Walnut Travertine– The brown color of walnut travertine is natural to the stone. As in all stones, the color is determined by the mineral content present in the earth during its formation, and in this stone can vary from beige to dark brown and from light gray to black. Because of the vast variations in color present in this particular stone, we use a clear resin to fill the natural pores. This clear resin enhances the depth of color and provides a relatively uniform shine. Because the fill material is clear, some areas require that we use fragments of the stone itself to occupy the resin. These fragments are hand placed and their size and density will vary. In addition, the seam between the stone and the fill can sometimes leave a notable transition that could be mistaken for a crack. This notable transition is unavoidable when it occurs and does not sacrifice the stability of your table in any way.
Tivoli - Tivoli is a variation of natural travertine. It is a sedimentary rock that is also naturally porous. Slabs are cut against the natural course of the veins and as a result the appearance will show a “cloudy” effect where darker areas might also be present depending on the mineral content found in that particular piece of stone. combining the Tivoli stone with natural crystals. Crystals are manually placed in the natural cavities and pores of the Tivoli slabs. The surface is then covered with a product especially developed to maintain the natural shine of the crystals. The liquid fills in the cavities and open pores of the Tivoli without affecting the reflecting features of the crystals. The slab will then go through a series of processes with high and low temperatures to harden the liquid used on the surface and it is then polished with a buffer to generate the great effect of the Tivoli Crystallized.
Marble – Marbles come in many natural colors and each presents natural veining. The coloration and veining are all determined by the minerals present during formation. Veining can often provide a certain inconsistency in the surface texture of your table top and might even require some fill to be used. These variations and natural markings are to be expected.
Granite – Granite tends to be the hardest and most regular stone that we use in our manufacturing. The color and surface are mostly consistent, although natural intrusions are always possible.
Onyx – Part of the alabaster family, onyx gets its brilliant colors from minerals and elements in the earth. While extraordinarily beautiful, this material can vary considerably from slab to slab. Natural fault lines and small cracks are quite common to this material and not to be considered manufacturer defect. Polishing this extremely dense stone renders a stunning glass-like finish. Enjoy the variations of each piece of onyx, as each is as unique as the person buying it. Because our tables are all naturally polished, the polish will vary across your table top. This is simply a result of a natural polish on a natural stone and one more way to emphasize the inherent unique beauty of each table.
CLEANING AND MAINTAINENCE:
Caring for your table:You can re-polish your table with a coat of natural paste wax as desired. This will restore the shine and protect the surface. As you would with a fine piece of wood furniture, always use placemats, coasters, and trivets and clean any spills immediately. Regular rubbing alcohol is a perfect product to use for day-to-day cleaning.
For stains: The removal of light rings and slight stains is fairly simple. Try the finest sandpaper available with a light-handed application and the re-wax. If it is an absorbed stain, the application of small amount of hydrogen peroxide, diluted bleach, or ammonia to the stain with a soft cloth produces good results. Always wash with clear water and wipe with a dry cloth, and re-wax after any cleaning or repair.
To fill small holes:Fill opening with a hardening putty, fill-stick, or spackle with color. You may need to remove excess with a razor blade of very fine sand paper. When surface is completely dry, apply paste wax and polish.
